While visiting the Beach House Inn and Cottages is like walking through a modern magazine thanks to our many recent renovations and Brenda's unique styling, the property and Beach House have a long history as well.
The Beach House was built by pioneers in the 1830s. The point of land around the house was cleared and cultivated by the Simms, a family of farmers who worked the land for a little over 100 years. The Presbyterian church purchased the property in a tax sale in 1946, and ran it as a bible camp for children for the next 40 years.
In 1986, Brenda bought the house and property, and used it herself as a summer cottage. Over the following few years, she transformed the property into a unique bed & breakfast-style inn and cottages. Gary Joudrey, your fellow host, joined Brenda in 2008.
Brenda has even used the Beach House as an independent school, providing a variety of college and university workshops through the spring and fall.
